Red's Tales: The Cavern PT1

A chiming sound filled the room as Red’s desk comm chirped at her. The Daedalian hunting guide twitched her ears at the sound. She didn’t get a lot of calls and most potential customers walked in directly. Still, she did advertise her frequency for a reason. Picking the receiver up, she cleared her throat before speaking in the most pleasant voice she could muster, “Red, here.” A man’s cheery customer service voice answered her on the other end, “Yes. Hello. This is Garth Lens. I’m with Lawless and Sons mining.” “And what can I do for you Mr. Lens,” Red asked. “I was calling to see if your services are available. We’ve been told you’re the best tracker in the business and we have a possible job for you.” Red swiveled an ear back as she ran a finger down her muzzle. It wasn’t too uncommon for a mining company to want to hire a hunting guide. Perhaps a predator was causing problems for their workers or maybe some executives were looking to do something exciting for a company

Hippos

I thought I'd share some pictures from Sussita/Hippos, and archaeological site I had the chance to visit recently. The city was built by the Selucids in the 2nd century BC. It's name at this point was: Antioch of Hippos. It survived until the 7th century after which it was abandoned. This is the view of Lake Tiberias (Sea of Galillee) from the hills where Hippos is located. This is all that is left of the basilica (originally 'basilica' referred to a public building which served various official and public functions. It acquired it's churchy meaning later.) This is the cystern. These are columns from the colonnaded street. The inscription
